Ok here's the deal .

I picked up an SLR-105 for a good price (Before The Recent Arsenal Inc. News)
So please , no Arsenal Inc. dissing ............. OK ?

Anyway . The unit I acquired is the neutered version , but the price was right
and I had already researched the parts required to fix it from K-var .
So I ordered the new Bulgie FSB and a 74 zig zag brake .

When it arrived today I eagerly opened the box only to find that they had
sent me the correct FSB , but the Brake was wrong  . You can see it in the picture
above . It's some kind of flash hider ( Which is cool , but a no go here in the PRNY )
A quick call to K-var had the situation corrected , but I decided to keep the FH and just
have them ship me the Zig Zag Brake .

Tonight when I got home from work I did a search on the K-var site to see if
I could identify the muzzle device I received .  I couldn't find it anywhere in
the listings , even the sold out items . Odd , but I'm not bitching .

Yeah well , I just had to play . What I found is that when they machined off
the threads on the neutered FSB they just barely cut the threads off , so
the FH will still screw on . Albeit not 100% , but still tight enough to TIG
weld it in place so it's permanent

I haven't done anything yet , but I figure the Zig Zag when it arrives will fit
as well as the FH does and will weld to the neutered FSB . This way I will keep the treaded FSB and the FH for the day I move to a normal state . Or we purge NYC from the state and get rid of the damn Ban ( Hey I can Dream ) .

Ok , so what’s your opinion . Am I breaking the regs if I do this , 922 or the NY Ban ???

I don't know about the NY ban, but if it mimics the 94 AWB, you're ok with permanently welding the brake to the front sight assembly.

The flash suppressor you got is the latest issue flash suppressor on the 7.62x39mm Bulgarian military rifles.  Very effective.

Do you want to sell the Flash hider?  If so let me know.

Thanks for the quick response . The NY Ban is essentially the same as the
now dead Fed one , and I have seen other AK's with 74 style brakes on them
for sale here in NY .  So the zig zag it will be , besides A 74 just doesn't look
right to me without the 74 style brake .

But now I have a new dilemma ....

I also own one of these :

Which has the 3 hole noise maker lightly pinned on the FSB .

Damn , I need to move

I'm honestly debating whether or not to "unban" my SA-M7S.  The damn thing shoots so well, I'm half afraid to do anything to it.

Also, that six port brake that is on the SLR-95, SLR-101, and SA-M7 and M7S is actually a pretty damn good flash suppressor, compared to a bare muzzle.

That's funny, I specifically asked Jack at the Shot show about this flash hider (I remember seeing the tech drawing for it last year) and he said it was just a commercial design by Arsenal, not a military anything.... hmmm.

Dunno Chamberlin, they started showing up late last year on the underfolder SAS-M7's and side folding SA-M7SF's.  I had noticed the pictures on Arsenal Bulgaria's website about 7/9 months ago, if I remember correctly.

Guess it might be a tail wagging the dog.......Arsenal Inc. comes up with the idea, Arsenal Bulgaria decides it's a good one and to install them on their AK's?  Who knows.  I've shot the SAS-M7 and SA-M7SF with that flash suppressor on it and it decreases both flash and blast.  Very good design, it looks like it was taken from the US M60 GPMG.

Hi Chrome1 I just did the same exact project you're going to do but didn't realize you could weld it in place. It was a b!tch to get that neutered fsb off AND to get the new threaded one in. I don't care if its removeable or not but just wanted the 74 look. Anyway Im about to purchase another neuterd slr105 and would definately would like to rather weld it in place. please post pics when you're done and maybe be a range report to see how it holds up.

What price are you guys paying for your -105s? I may be in the market for one myself soon.

I would think your going to have to weld all the way around the perimeter otherwise your going to have gas leaking back towards your hands and face.

No Rail .

It was on the rack of a local shop . They also had a Sam-7
but I'm on a 5.45 kick at the moment .
