U.S. Army soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment prepare to cross an intersection as they conduct a joint patrol with Iraqi commandos searching for insurgents January 24, 2005 in Ramadi, Iraq. I've only seen the new digital pattern being wore by Marines. |
As per www.kalashnikov.guns.ru/models/ka224.html Type 56-1 is the stamped receiver version of the original milled Type 56. I've always known the underfolders to be the 56-2. ![]() |
| The digital camo for the Army is not out yet to my knowledge. Also it looks nothing like the Marines digis. Its more of greyish white & green pattern, and no more black leather boots, everybody will get the desert boots. We are supposed to get ours at the end of the year before we go to Afganistan. |

There could be several reasons for the GI to be toting an AK, up to and including maybe his weapon got broke during the mission, so he used what was available in the field. As far as the new pattern fatigues, they are available to Army troops already, but they haven't issued many yet. I live near a training base and have began seeing the Drill Instructors and Cadre officers (folks who need to maintain a very standard as far as uniforms go), wearing them, people in those positions need to wear like new uniforms all of the time, so they buy new gear at clothign sales more often than your regular troop. |
Is that another hit infront of the FWD Assist? |
| looks like the receiver was cracked and repaired. I still stand behind the AK being a type 56, check the pics pics from stotman I beleive he has a few of a 56-1. The chinese used the same designations of the military rifles and expots as what was imported to the US. Either way if I was over there I would pic up an AK as well, the good thing is that if you get a good one you know you will always have plenty of mags and ammo lying around over there. |
