Question about nipple tips... > AK Discussions

the nipple tips on the Silver Bear Match 7.62x39... I bought 2000 rounds from AIM. This stuff shoots great out of my SAR-1. I was staying within 2 inch groups at 50 yards...

I am curious, what purcpose do the "nipple" tip serve? Unlike other ammo I shoot, i.e. XM193 out of my AR or the 7.62 Golden Tiger stuff I oredered previsously, this silver bear stuff creats big sparks upon impacting the back of the range's backstop.

I will also add this the silver bear stuff doesn't smell as bad and doesn't seem to get my AK's internals as dirty as the Gold Tiget stuff.

it's some sort of 'accuracy increasing' attribute, iir their advertisting blurb correcectly.

personally, it scares me to use it in an auto-loading rifle. that tit has just GOT to get seriously abused in the chambering process.

In cold weather the "nipple tip" becomes very aggressive. It sort of "points" at you........what....you guys talking about something else?

Hell, I've seen 'em, in cold weather, cut glass!

The inverted ones are the ones you need to watch out for, because when the pop out, well let's just say you could shoot your eye out kid.

I hate to see a tit abused..A little tweak once in awhile but abused??? Thats just wrong!!!!!!!

Nipple tits, should always be handled gently.

Tweak em wrong or too hard and you'll get a kaboom up side your head.

Make sure your not too aggresive with nipple tips because over use makes them extremely sensitive.

I've often thought the same of softpoints. IIRC the "effect" tit was supposed to magically enhance accuracy AND increase the wounding effect of the round. I'd like to see someone blast some Jell-o with this stuff, as well as the soft points. Lord knows the HP aint worth a damn.

Some backyard ammo gurus with starwars names like to claim that it will cause the bullet to fraqgment and kill and charging rhino in its tracks. They base this off shooting it through 12.6658897856 layers of drywall.

I find it more accurate than Wolf and easier to find than regular ULY and the price is right. Decent ammo. I really don't think it is any better than other 7.62 X 39 in the kill you dead now from a shot in the tow catagory.

I hear they are MUCH more devastating if you have the nipples pierced and add the Janet Jackson nipple device to them. Nasty, nasty, nasty and not condoned by any major network censor. Thats why you never see any pics of the results. :)
