If you're going to clear door to door, and were issued a full-length AR, the folder AK makes a nice loaner in tight quarters.

Its one of ours, they had just captured the gun from a Mosque.

Also the camo pattern sure looks like that new digital stuff. I don't think we are giving our new camo patterns to the Iraq security forces.

And he looks white, duh. Lots of American soldiers in Iraq use AKs because of the shortage of M4s and 5.56 ammo in general. It is easier to have a smaller gun than an M16 and you can have all the ammo you can find.

One big difference in this picture is that it actually is an American soldier. The Iraqis are using the "chocolate chip" deserts from desert storm. The US is using the Tri color uniforms. The difference is there is no black coloring on our uniforms. Not to mention that if you look close enough the strap for his weapon is across his right shoulder. But the biggest giveawy there is the NOD plate on his kevlar. We didnt give the Iraqis Night Vision. Still it would be nice to use a reliable weapon in a fight...

I think AK's are great weapons, but I wouldn't take one off a dead enemy and use it unless I was completely out of ammo for the weapons I'd brought with me.
