How fast can you field strip your AK? Has anyone timed themselves?

When tearing down a bunch of WASR's for conversion, I got to where I could completly tear one down to the barreled receiever in less than 5 min. After doing 30 - 40 at a time you learn alot of little tricks.

practice makes perfect.

field stripping takes about a minute (action cover off, recoil spring out, bolt/carrier removed, gas tube pulled, muzzledevice off, cleaning rod pulled) or two if you hustle, give or take.

detail stripping (the above plus removing fire control parts, forearm) adds another minute or so. i punch the pivot pins, but be careful with the disconnector spring.

it takes me a good 5 minutes just to pull a buttstock. those screws suck for quality and slapping the stock out is a pain in the ass.

Yeah, I can field strip an AK in a minute or two - detail strip in 5 to 10, depending on whether I'm hurrying or not... Putting it back together takes a couple of minutes longer - mostly because I was too cheap to change out the shepard's crook...

Absolute fastest rifle I've ever stripped(field or detail) has to be the FAL - man, those things just FLY apart for cleaning...

butt stocks are a real pain.  Been trying to muscle mine out for about 5-10 minutes now and theres no sign that I did anything but remove the screws.

Im such a nerd...I had my friend time me in the basic  field strip. My best time was taking apart my AK setting all the pieces on the table (bolt out of carrier too) and then re-assembluing them in 90 seconds.---Blindfolded.

Well, as I recollect, from many, many moons ago........the whole “point of the drill”, way back when, was to make sure you could clear a jam under stress, and maybe in the dark....with an AK, under combat conditions, it would be: 5-seconds......remove magazine, beat the handle back.......insert magazine, charge weapon, if no luck, remove magazine, use it beat the bolt into battery. Pull trigger, if no joy, pick up your dead buddy’s and start again.......Pray to Buddha, Allah, whoever.....(use short form of prayer)

Sounds pretty quick, i'd say it could be done alot quicker compared to a AR15/M4 type.

I think it is important to be able to field strip your potential SHTF weapons blindfolded, but thats just me.
