I don't think I'm divulging any secret by mentioning that Guns-N-Stuff has low cap WASRs with pistol grip at $179. I thought I'd be putting off my first AK for awhile, but at this price, it's going to be hard to resist. I have a few questions, though. Is it ocrrect to reason that those were put together at the factory, not at Century, and therefore do not suffer from the canted gas block and front sight post problems? How about trigger slap (at least the one whose cause is identified here: http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/slapfix.htm)? If they're all Romanian parts, then in order to make the high cap modification, I'd need to comply with US made parts requirements. Is this required only for high-cap modifications, or for any modification to the rifle? Specifically, I was thinking of a folding stock and muzzle break before switching over to high cap. If I need to fulfill the 5 parts requirement for any modification, then $179 doesn't look like such a good deal after all. |

Is it ocrrect to reason that those were put together at the factory, not at Century, and therefore do not suffer from the canted gas block and front sight post problems? the wasr's are factory built, but the crappy build quality originates in romania. it is best to hand select/inspect ANY romanian made kalashnikov. How about trigger slap (at least the one whose cause is identified here: http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/slapfix.htm)? the low capacity rifles have romanian fire control parts that do not have a high incidence of trigger slap, unlike the cheap american made fire control parts that century installs in the sar's/high capacity wasr's. If they're all Romanian parts, then in order to make the high cap modification, I'd need to comply with US made parts requirements. Is this required only for high-cap modifications, or for any modification to the rifle? they are only needed if you alter the rifle to accept high capacity magazines. Specifically, I was thinking of a folding stock and muzzle break before switching over to high cap. If I need to fulfill the 5 parts requirement for any modification, then $179 doesn't look like such a good deal after all. it really ISN'T a good deal. who wants a 10-round ak? no one...that's who. by the time you convert the rifle legally to accept high capacity magazines, you would have been time and money ahead to just buy a high capacity wasr from the start. |
