Can you people help me figure out what this is worth. It has a 1963 date on it but the reciever is a Hesse. The serial number is below 5500. I bought it at a gun show and took it to my dealer and he said it has never been shot. I just want to know if i got ripped off or not. I paid $425.00 for it.

Looks like a good rifle.
What all did it come with?

Look at it like this, you could buy a WASR-10 for around $300.00 with tx and transfer then add the OD green furniture. The OD furniture is around $100.00 with the shippng from KVar.

The main question is are you happy with it?

the hesse hurts the price but id say you did ok anyway
now days a bulgi kit costs you about 4 bills so all in all you did good

Exc parts source, and even Hesse can make a decent AK receiver. As long as the actual build is good, you did fine.

Looks like one of the Chinese made-for-export dust cover lids with weaver rail. Expect it to need loktite for the 2 set screws in back, and work to re-zero after cleaning removals.

If in NE OH, bring it to Tusco for the plate shoot Sun.

I am usually a big fan of wood stocks but that OD Green really looks good.

I am not affraid to say it, if it has Hesse on the side I would have stayed clear of it no matter the price. The point is whether or not you like it. If you are happy with the purchase do not let anyone else ruin it for you. Just make sure you inspect the receiver often after you have shot it.
