this question comes up evey two weeks or so. i suggest you page back thru this forum a month or two or search using ssr-56. some of the ssr56's were poorly made(bushed bbl. causing poor alignment / not shooting to pount of aim) and that problem was compounded by poor customer service in some instances...guns bring returned several times as returned still un-corrected. this was particularly true of the early production runs. i think the odds of getting a good one far outweigh those of gettong a bad one now. they now use a custom bored trunnion and do not need the bbl. journal bushing that caused some of the early problems. still, i would be very sure of the return policy before i plunked my money down. |

I ordered a SSR-56 around xmas time last year. It arrived at the dealer a few days later, and we were both impressed by the finish quality. It is far nicer than any of the SAR's that I've looked at. I've only fired around 1K rounds through it, but it has been nothing but reliable (if not especially accurate, duh!) for that time. I ordered it before I had read some of the bad reports of the rifles & customer service, and am glad I did. I have no doubt that some folks have had less than stellar service, but as for myself, I couldn't be happier with mine. Caveat Emptor (sp?) Stych |
| The ssr56 is a very nice ak. I had 2 romanians and there is no comparision. The fit and finish on the ssr56 is great, also the barrel. My ssr56 never has jammed or malfunctioned, although the romanians never did either. If you really care how your ak looks I would spend a little extra on the global trades ak. |
