Just when I thought I had a good handle on general gun knowledge, what is a M76?  Sorry for the uniformed question.

How will anyone meet the US parts requirement?

If I remember right, a milled receiver needs 4 us parts, right?  H, T, S, grip?

take care,

hold on....are those for the 8mm zastavas (or however you spell it)?

these recs are for for the yugoslavian m76 squad marksman rifle which is chambered in 8mm (7.92mm) mauser. they were originally manufactured by crveni zastava.

they were imported by mitchell, back in the day, and by several others. the recent batch that was just sold off had been in storage in america since 1996, pending an estate being settled.

Sort of a Yugo 8mm Mauser "Dragunov".  Not exactly but the same general idea.  Stretched AK chambered for a full size rifle cartridge for designated marksmen/sniper use.  Yugoslavia, not being a member of the Warsaw Pact, kept the 8x57 Mauser cartridge for their machine guns (they used & manufactured the MG42) so they made their sniper rifles in it also.

Essentially, same thing as a PSL/Romak-3, but in 7.92x57mm and not Romanian...

The new M76's should be of a type (the ones minus the auto sear) that are still importable (Dragonvs are still importable are they not) so a US receivered M76 shouldn't need any US parts, to comply with 922(r).

The M76 uses a normal pistol grip, not a thumbhole stock like a Draguinov or the Romak3/PSL  so sec922 compliance might be an issue.  The milled US receiver & US trigger group should be enuff.

what determines imortabilty is the magazine, in this case.

svd's feed from a 10-round box and their t-hole stock is considered the same as a pistol grip configuration by the batfe. a drag has always been 'safe' to import except the state department and commerce department got together with the rus and conned them into signing a trade agreement that banned 69 (iir the number correctly) russian firearms from import.

the m76 feeds from a 10-round box, also. thus, it cannot be considered an 'assault weapon' unless a high capacity ammunition feeding device is available for it.

100% import content is allowable.

Krink Freak-]

I see you changed the lightening cut on the side of the mag well. Can we order a receiver without the cut, so we can make our own (to be like the original) or will you be offering the original style cut later?

I want to put my name on the list to get one of the first receivers. I talked with you guys a couple of weeks ago and at the time, todd said he'll be making up the list in two weeks. Well, times up, can I call and put my name down?

Thanks LS

Guys,
M76 prototype rec's should be done this week.  We will assemble a few and go blasting.  These bad boys have some serious machine work in them.  Probably our biggest project so far for moving metal.  I thought the Galils were a mo fo, but these are probably twice the work with the machined in scope rail.  Same as the other machined receivers we are producing, made from 4140 billets, CNC machined, then fully heat treated for lifetime of use.  The receivers we are gonna start taking orders for this week.  Intro price of $499.95.  We will offer guns soon too, they will be about $1800.00.  The RF markings on the gun were placed by the selector switch, so they are visible when selector is up and down, fully when selector is removed.  Did this for the guys that like the  "most original" look possible.  The lighting cut is not complete yet, we are gonna run a ballnose endmill on the edges to "blend" it like the original cut was.  Can you get it wo the cut?  Probably not, doing just one or two like that then crossing our fingers that in a different setup a tool does not burn up and toast the entire receiver is possible, then you would wait on the next batch to be produced and fingers crossed again.

Todd-

As long as you are mimicing the original lightening cuts, then I'll take it as is. Sorry if I jumped to conclusions.

When is the best day to call for placing an order? Do you require deposits or the complete amount down? Either way, it doesn't bother me.

Keep up the great work and PLEASE keep adding the latest pictures!

I can't wait!  Had to turn my SOG one back in last year.  It was a great rifle.  I'd attach a photo if I had the time to figure out how.

Why? Full-auto?

The rifles came in the country with the third pin axis hole already drilled, with a cut-down auto sear.  The Europeans call it a "safety sear" and it's legal over there, but not here.  BATFE ruled if the third hole exists, then it's a machinegun.

Here are two pics of one of the M76s that came into the country:

it IS called a safety sear. that's what i've called it all my life heheh!

the last batch released had the auto/safety sear in place...yrt, the batfe has not gathered them back up.

after the fal kits and ppsh kit that were recalled and grabbed just to get an improperly demilled receiver stub back...this perplexes me greatly.

As I recall many were able to send the gun back to SOG for a refund, they then handed the rifles over to the ATF. They were selling them for $1500 a few years ago. Almost bought one but after that whole mess it turned out to be a blessing that I didn't.

Guys,
Yes we have a small lot of kits that will be built into rifles.  They have all the parts as shipped before BATFE decided they needed to be parts kits and not rifles.  Scope and mount, couple mags, cleaning kit, scope case.  Most scopes and mounts do not match the rifle serials, why not sure what happened there.  I will start a gun list in a couple more weeks.
