I looked at one today new at a local gun shop. The price was $333. Currently I own an Arsenal Inc. Am I spoiled, because the WASR quality didn't seem to be even close? The price however is cheap. Will the WASR perform or should I pass? Thanks |
| My first gun was a SAR-1 and that was great. Trigger, stock, finish all great. I just picked up a WASR-10 for $280. Trigger and finish suck. I bought it to put a folding stock on but now I cant because I live in MA. But this can be my junker AK. So I would skip on one. Get something else. Just my .02 |
While a Pinto is a "car" and a Corvette is a "car", they are not the same. You be spoiled with your Arsenal Inc. The real question is, is there enough difference between the two to justify the cost of the ARsenal. My answer is YES! Proud Papa of 3 Arsenal Incs here. ![]() Sly |
| Nothing wrong with Rom WASRs, most Rom AKs suffer from trigger slap. make sure it takes the high cap mags.....Ive had a WASR where the mags fit tighter than my SARs with no trigger slap. I just bought another WASR as my truck gun for out in the desert, dont care about the finish like I do my 2 preban AKs. Go for it the price is OK. |

Am I spoiled, because the WASR quality didn't seem to be even close? The price however is cheap. cheap or well made...it's rare to find both simultaneously. the wasr is priced low for areason...the detail work is not high zoot. however, they generally shoot as well as the next ak and are as functional, also. i think that madatory upgrades include an rsa fire controll group, a coat of laquer and maybe a new furniture set. wasr's sell from $289 to $325 in my area. |

Now here is a man how "gets" AKs. Pretty is good, my remington 700 is pretty, the deer seem to fall over dead at the site of it, my Romanian AK is ugly, but it works well, liberals fall over dead at the site of it! |
Personally I've never quite figured out how the terms "AK" and "Fit & Finish" can be used in the same sentence. IMHO, the more scratches, dents and dings I get in my AKs only makes me adore them all the more. I was a tad bit upset when I dented the perfect wood grip of my Norinco 56S preban last week. (It was in a double gun case and apparently one or both of the guns shifted and I have a large crescent dent in the front of the grip now) I finally laughed it off as the dent, which is starting to blend with the others now- will remind me "It's an AK and gets used." The worst part about owning the Chicom AK, the Bulgarians, and the Romanian... I only have two hands! Sly |

I was looking at one locally, but they had the abomination "drag" stock on it. I know this has been asked a zillion times, but will the reciever allow easy installation of standard wood/plastic furniture? I was on the lookout for a cheap SAR1 which would've had the wood tossed anyway, so if we're not talking a funky slant cut or something, Im'a say screw it and get the WASR. Yea, I've played with an Arsenal Inc. and that's a plenty nice AK and worth the scratch for sure, but I actually would prefer to build up a sow's ear into something snazzy. Gives me something to keep busy this winter! |

Besides a NHM-91 and a Polytech Legend AK-47/S I also have two WASR-10's that I just recently acquired. I got one off the EE here, and I bought the other really cheap from a friend that needed money, (he's the one that set the price, and I'm the one that set down the money). I got it for $240.00 with 4 thirty rounders, and 5 ten rounders. One of them had a really tight mag release on it, and the other would not accept my 75 round drums until a minor amount of Dremel work. Both of them shoot fine with no problems. BTW. The Polytech is in the box unfired with all of its original goodies. |
Exactly what I wanted to hear, thank you very much! I'll verify parts count before doing anything though, one neeeever knows |

I love my cheap WASR. I let out the sling and carry it fishing with us. Through jungles of brush, vines, reeds and bamboo, over fallen trees, throw it down on sandy banks when we get there, etc. Its good protection from snakes, stray dogs, and Al Queda if they show up at the fishing hole. At the same time, I dont have to worry about scratching the finish of it or if sand gets in it like I would with some other guns. I dont feel bad when I dont baby it. |
