If I was to build a AK from a parts kit.......yeah I know you have to use US compliance parts!  But can you modify the original full auto parts to operate in semi auto only?  what else would you have to do or leave out ?

No 3rd pin, no FA sear.
But with a decent fcg for $40 for 3 US parts....

IIRC, GordonTech G2's are $30 shipped from a few places, and a second only to the RSA trigger group (function just as smooth as the original FA parts).

If you want to turn FA parts into semi auto, all you basically need to do is leave out one pin and the auto sear, and file down the first little protrusion on the disconnect which the selector lever hits before hitting the second stage (for safe). Not won't make it go full auto (unless you use ammo with *really* soft primers), but it will make it a bolt-action rifle unless your selector is entirely in 'semi-auto position.

EditToAdd: by bolt-action, I mean it will chamber the next round but won't fire it, and you'll need to either re-chamber a round or otherwise cock the hammer back as it will be down and resting on a primer [which tend to be rather hard on Russian ammo].

I figured just leave the sear and pin out, but I'm new to AK building so I figured I'd ask.
