Anyone have one of those Saiga .223 AK type rifles?  I was checking one out today and they looked kinda "cheezy"  but looked like it would function fine.  I looked it over real good and the one bad thing that I found was even though the receiver was straight cut, they moved the trigger back with some kinda of plate and they have a regular rifle buttstock on it.  Here is a pic of one of theor .308 rifles, it's the same. Saiga .308
Does anyone of you guys have one of these Saiga rifles?  Are they any good?  Anyone know if you can convert it over to a pistol grip?

Have one, just got the last US part, see Russian forum for how-to thread tacked. Groups about as good as a Bulgy 5.45 build, scoped, rested, on lame Wolf HP I bought on sale by accident. Trigger is not as bad as expected, bit of creep and suprise in the final break, but decent load up in feel to that point. Looking fwd to getting that extra piece out of the linkage, but better than my 2 Century SAR triggers.
Bought a spare handguard from Chris at ak-103.com, going to dremel vents like a FAL and gasket seal some roof flashing for heat sheilding. Cheap is part of the point of this project, for now....
Gun and DIY hicap can be legal and fun at $450.

Yeah, the best solution to the trigger is to do a PG conversion, IMHO.   Heres my .308:

I guess that would qualify as a brain fart! (what is pg conversion)  I was thinking it was the name of the companies conversion kit!
