Several years back, I had a Maadi (don't remember the model name) which was pretty much an RPK
copy. Long barrel, attached bipod, etc. I had to sell it, unfortunately, when the finances got tight.

I was reading through a thread dealing with AK models, and there was mention that there were supposed
to be RPK kits coming into the States, or that they have come in.

I'd be interested in getting another RPK-type rifle (7.62 preferably, but I'd consider a 5.45) if this
is true, if there is a company (ORF, maybe?) who is going to build on them?

Anybody know of any RPK replica makers, or hear anything about these kits? Just wondering......

I know that Norinco imported a good amount a long time ago.

I would love to have a Romanian RPK though...

Here are some photos of a Maadi RPM that Troy and Christy Sellars presented to me when I came back from Iraqi Freedom:

(Note:  It was fugly before Troy did a retrofit to 922r.  He upgraded with RSA FCG, Soupbowl Enterprises furniture, and a beautiful refinish job.  It still sits in my gunsafe....unfired.)

sweet so how does one go about finding an RPK type. I think it would make a nice budget civilian SAW type rifle. With drums of course.
Why no drums in the pics guys?

Tanker,
I don't think you are going to have much luck finding a RPK kit in 7.62. At least one that is not "shot out".
If you want one in 5.45 K-VAR has new barrel assemblies for $330.00. This is the route I took. With a collection of parts from vendors and gun shows I ended up with this.

Total cost to build was just over $600.00  Sence this pic I have added a Bulgy scope rail to the side and a 6X Russian scope.  Accuracy I thought was very good. Five shot groups were 1 1/2" at 100yds.  Rapid aimed fire for a 30rnd mag was just under 4".
Shooting this one is is a joy, with it's low recoil you can keep your sight picture thruogh the scope and watch the bullet impact.

True no drums for the 5.45.  Maybe some day we will be able to get the quad stack 60s though.
I would still rather have a weapon that holds a 30 round mag and is accurate than a weapon that holds 75 and won't hit shit.
But then if I feel the need for real fire power I use this

This too is an Inrange build.  Started off as a Maadi RPM then added a Bulgarian RPK47 barrel assembly.
