If I want to use a brass punch to move the windage post, exactly what do I ask for at the hardware store?  What type of punch and what type of hammer?   I've tried at home with what I have to no avail.

Neither. Another set of hands, C clamp, and small sockets. Unless you need to push it far enough so the drum goes into the housing, you just need a socket that fits over the outside of the far side of the drum.

Clamp is good but a bench vise is better. Another set of hands is not a must but sure helps. I had problems with useing Clamps as far as the type with a swivle head on them. Alot of cussing... WarDawg

the front site tool that adjusts both windage and elevation costs about $8 at tapco.

the c-clamp and socket work well for me, but 3 hands do make it easier!

if you must use a hammer and punch (i do not recommend this method because of potential damage to the front sight block), i suggest a brass rod, about 3/8" in diameter by 5" long and a 16 oz. ball pein hammer.

Do I just ask for a C clamp at Home Depot?  What are sockets?  Just pretend I don't know anything when explaining.

I've never had a problem using the adjustment tool for SKS's that I've owned, but this AK is being damn stubborn.  The tool actually starts to bend.  Yes, I'm certain that it's being placed correctly.

I hope this helps. Although it's rather shitty looking, I believe it will explian how it works.

I got it.  That's actually a great pic.  Didn't make it to the store tonight, so it will help me tomorrow.  Thanks!
