| I see that Century is importing the WASR in 5.45x39 and .223. I have my Bulgarian AK-74 kit and will be going to the Phoenix gun show this weekend looking for a receiver and was going to look for a SAR-2 to use until I get my kit built. Locally I have only found one at $467.00 which I was passing on as too expensive. I would just as well settle for a WASR-2 in 5.45x39 if J&G Sales gets them for anywhere near the price of the WASR they carry now at $288.50. Hopefully these will come into the states soon. |
| Century International Arms just has them on their website but it takes a dealer to see any information about them I guess. |

The ban sunsetting will have no effect on imported AK rifles because this will still be in effect. www.atf.gov/firearms/assault/treasrelease.htm |
SAR's are not imported rifles, they do not contain enough foreign parts. I think they will be making a big comeback in Sep, or whenever the supplies of the converted single stack rifles run out. What happens is Century brings the rifles in while they are still in complete and simply add the required American parts. It makes since to me that if they had taken a gamble about six or eight months ago, and decided to hold off on any new post ban SAR's being released, while they let demand for them grow, then couple that pent up demand with the addition (or the benefit of not removing) evil features, plus they can still sell plenty of single stack, and converted single stack rifles in the meantime. Imagine if you are not living in a state that has a local AWB, come sept. how much are you going to be willing to pay for a single stack thumbhole rifle, when you can get a shiny new SAR1 with a folding stock, and bayo lug for $350? If thier gamble hadn't worked out they would have still cleared out alot of slow moving models, while dtill driving up the demand for post ban SAR's. |
