I'm a little new to this site, so please excuse me if this has been discussed before. Are ITM Arms Co. receivers of good quality? I am thinking of having an AMD63, or Polish PMKMS kit built on one. I have an ITM receiver marked Model AK-74 5.45. It is mated with a new Bulgarian 5.45 kit, and is a great shooting gun. Thanks for your help.

Those are more commonly known as the OOW receivers and they are pretty good. Rapid fire chose the 5.45 version to build the SEAK on...that speaks volumes.  I have not built on one myself, but the talk on the street is not bad.  As with any build, some fitting is required on some receivers.  If you can get pass the shitty reputation of Hesse builds, the Vulcan receivers are also getting outstanding reviews.

Thats good news. I will probably buy one for the AMD build. Is $90 a good price for these, or can I do better?

up here, the itm/oow rec sells for $59-79.

$90 ain't too far out of line, though. shop around...bet you find a better price somewhere.

the itm/oow unit is the best that is currently available to us.

if you build on it, be sure and read up on the 'quirks' and how to avoid those problems.

Alright, I will look around. I am planning on having a reputable shop do the build for me, but not sure which one. Are there still quirks involved when experts build on them?

yup. ohio rapid fire just got bit by a screwup...itm/oow welded 7.62 ejectors/left lower rail in 5.45 receiver shells...resulting in failures to eject..and a warranty repair service to perform.

troy sellars of inrange and ohio rapid fire are well versed in the idiosyncratic details that can drive a sober man to drink. either outfit now knows the details inside and out.

in truth, the itm/oow receiver isn't all that bad...just different enough from a genuine commie receiver to require a few builds to settle in a get comfortable with.

Mine was built by AKUSA. It seems to eject alright. I would have bought a SEAK, but I have this one. Thanks for all your help.

Well, I can drive there for $60. My 63 build is fine, after some extra snug hammer/carrier rub was smoothed.
The Vulcan is a 7.62 design, and even Hesse got the AK fairly right. If I found one clearly cheaper I would go that way.
