anyone use one of these? Would it fit on the SEAK rifle? If so, which one? www.ultimak.com/buy.htm They list one without side gas ports and one without. Is there a better price for these? I see them on brownells.com for $75 with the curio and relic FFL discount, but brownells doesn't mention this gas ports vs. no gas ports thing. Unless you guys tell me to run away, I'm going to order one in a month or so (sending in a SEAK order this week) and give it a try. I'm sure I can dump it on the EE if it sucks. I notice they sell forends too. Do you know if the ones I've seen in the EE here that have rails for attaching a verticle forward grip would fit with this sight rail? I'd like to do this ![]() ![]() with a verticle foregrip and (assuming the ban goes away) a folding stock Danke. |

I've got them on both 7.62 and 5.45 guns; along with Aimpoints. A little pricey combination for an AK but, very, very good stuff. I've owned Kobra's and IMHO the Ultimak/Aimpoint combo is markedly superior (as it damned well should be for the price differential). I can't speak to other sights but, the Aimpoint will allow you to see the iron sights through the scope. This setup is half the weight of a Kobra. Bear in mind that you are replacing a steel gas tube and wood hanguard with an aluminum gas tube. The net weight gain to your rifle is somewhat less than the weight of the Aimpoint by itself. The with/without gas ports thing: Don't worry about it. It matters not. Flip a coin or indulge your esthetic impulses. And no, the Ultimak will not overheat your scope. I know. I've tried. Luck, SD Forgot to add: Use whatever foregrip you like. It mkes no diff with the Ultimak. Worst case: You do 21 seconds worth of dremmeling on the hand guard. |

my buddy has an Ultimak rail and an Oko site on his AK. Its quite nifty... but my big hands want to grab more then just the bottom half of the front hand guard, adn i kept singign my fingers on the ultimak, since its metal and hot. of course, its better then iron sites. |
The best solution is a pair of Nomex gloves. I have the Ultimak on my SLR95. Now that I have the Russian "Aimpoint" (which does not block the irons), I am considering selling the Ultimak. |
