Just picked up another Norinco..The wood looks nice, but not great. Even after polishing it up, maybe even refinishing it, it still won't look great. Who makes good wood sets for AK's these days? I'm not necessarily looking for something rare and expensive, but something nicely showey would be nice  I've seen some truly beautiful M14 stocks and other wood...but haven't seen much of that for AK's. Any ideas? |

I've seen the Ironwood Designs stocks... But, can they REALLY come out nicely? I have no qualms about finishing, but...I haven't really seen a beautiful Walnut stock, to be honest. Not that this rifle will be a showpiece (I'm sure as hell going to run it ), but I'd really like it to look nice..can I do that with Walnut?

I can attest that walnut from IWD can look good. I used one of their set as 3 compliance parts for my MISR-10.. I just used a tung oil finish with the stock as it was when it arrived, so it is not too reflective, but still looks real good. I will try and get pics up. |
