Any word or update on the ongoing production of SEAK rifles?  This span of a couple of days without any new info or pics is driving me nuts!

If you have nothing new to offer just let me know.  No news is better than bad news!

Thanks!

Here's a few pics of the last week.

Pressing out the barrels

Pressing them back in

Me drilling the hole for the cross pin RSA gas piston

40 carriers with new RSA piston

My oldest son, Jeremy, drilling rivet holes for the scope mounts

Gage we use for correct scope rail placement

42 barreled SEAK's waiting on rear trunions and trigger gaurds

Better look at above pic

This week:

The barrels were pressed out of the trunions.

The original gas pistons were removed and replaced with new RSA gas pistons.

All the barrel trunions and scope rails were riveted to the receivers.

The barrels were pressed back in and headspaced. This went GREAT! Only one barrel needed help. It was head spaced a little big. We spaced it where it needed to be and drilled it for an oversize pin.

These kits have been a dream to work with. Only a couple misaligned front sights. Those were easy to adjust. Removed the pins, realigned, drilled and installed new pins.

As you can tell, we have been pretty busy and I didn't have time to send these pics to KF. Hope this helps all the same,

Mike

Think "KF" is making a pilgrimage to ORF today.  Some sort of a religious thingy.

I'm not even on the SEAK buy but these pics are pretty nifty.

I have an off topic question for you if you don't mind.  You mentioned you had just a few misaligned front sights.  Do you have some type of jig you use to align the FSB before you drill the new holes so that it will be TDC?  If not, how do you get the FSB exactly TDC?  I suppose a rod threaded to screw into the FSB (replacing the sight post) could be used as a reference point, no?

Kitchen pass was revoked today.  Had to do odd jobs around the house.  I am going to ORF tomorrow and will take a few more photos if needed.

I will also go over the paperwork tomorrow, and send emails to those who still owe a balance to let them know it's just about time to send final payment.

Final payment will be given to ORF on each rifle when it ships to the customer.

Thanks Mike for the update and KF for the trip to the maternity ward.  I feel like an expectant father.

Question on the build: is the reason for pressing the barrel out of the trunion before riveting, and then pressing the barrel back in, to facilitate the riveting of the barrel trunion to the receiver? Or, is that in order to align the barrel to the receiver once the trunion is revited, regardless of the trunion's orientation?

It make removing the old rivets much easier, but I like to visually inspec each rivet after the are installed. That's impossible without removing the barrel on the two top one.

...pretty amazing...that when this SEAK project is completed...ORF will have produced more AKs in this one brief project than GG EVER did!

That is indeed a very interesting fact.

I am only 19 years old so I do not know anything about the GG mess, only that it happened and it angered a lot of people.  I have heard nothing but good things about ORF and am thrilled that they are doing the SEAK project for us.

Maybe we should take your statement JeepCreep and post it over on Gunsnet.  You know, just to see how fast it gets deleted.

....unfortunately...I am verboten on cumsnet, or I would. Ya see...them boyz are scared of the truth, instead they would rather be lead around like lemmings!

Great shots KF.  Almost as good as a webcam :)  Excellent watching a craftsman applying the final touch with a Q-tip!

I see the box that I sent my Polish underfolder  kit in on the bottom shelf in one of those pics.  Cool!!!

Is it too late to send in an order for a SEAK? If I send in the info now, what would be the approx ship date?

Thanks.
