Okay.....I'll bite....Why would someone want to attach a lanyard to a magazine? Are we supposed to keep them together like a "key ring" ?? Are we supposed to keep the mag tied to our ammo belt so when we "park" our rifle, we pull the mag out so no one will be able to use it ?? Or is it like riding a jet ski and when you fall off the "key comes out of the ignition" so then the AK quits firing ?? Somebody clue me in here...... KF |

Its my understanding the Finnish did this so they could be attached to a soldiers LBE. Basically a way to dummy cord everything. American soldiers sometimes do the same; After you have been in the field and moving for several days without sleep, you start to fall asleep while walking or will just zone out. During this time, you can lose you hat, weapon, anything thats not tied down. You wont notice for awhile either. |
Also, you have to remember in the "land of ice and snow"(musical refrence) If you have large mits/gloves on, your hand movements are much more limited, dropping a mag is a real possibility. Plus...if they are paracorded to 'ya...you are Tactical!...yes...AKers, can now me high speed low drag!(sarcasim/AR dig) |
| A small loop tied to the mag eases mag changes, especially tactical mag changes where you are not looking while you're doing it. If you take PeteG's carbine class up in pittsburgh it will all become clear. The class is structured around the AR but I took it with my AK. I didnt do any worse than anyone else aside from the friendly ribbing. Of course it was returned everytime someone had a stuck cartridge, fteject, ftextract..... |
