I did watch "The Warriors" on cable the other day, which is loosely based on Anabasis........does that count?

I think Anabasis is still required reading at West Point.  I have never read the entire work but I have read portions.  I think I remember reading in Patton's biography that he constantly referred to it during his campaigns in the Med.  Lots of different translations out there though.  Some are supposed to be much better than others.  I guess I need to learn to read Greek.

i had it as required reading in college as a history/poli-sci major. i can imagine any person studying military leadership would be required to commit it to memory.

i have now read two translations of the anabasis...one with many references to the other.

sometimes i wished i had pursued my docorate in history and a profession as a writer. so many paths to travel...so little time to travel them all.

oh well, here's to zenophon! recorder of history!
