I read about a RSA FCG group buy in another thread, but I be damned if I can find it.  Any info would be great.

BTW I threw the Century FCG away after I dremeled the crap out of it per linux's advice and still had a bad slap.  I  then picked up some unmarked FCG parts at a gun show.  Not sure where they where made and that only removed about 80% of the slap although a much better feel, so instead of worry about the FCG parts I have (I think they are Romanian), a RSA FCG is in my future for sure, so I would go in on a group buy.

I have a few other questions while I am posting:

1.  Are some SAR-1's more prone to slap than others?

2. Will the RSA cure my ills without risk?  I was surprised that I could not eliminate the slap after hitting the disconnector hard with the dremel.

Thanks,
Echap

some sar's have trigger slap...some don't. it is not always the fault of the disconnector.

after clearing away the discon, you may still be springbound or have a spring that is too stiff or too long. this has the same effect as a discon hitting the trigger...just not as pronounced.

did you try shortening your spring a wee bit at a time?

tec nine's group buy thread was moved...but go to the thread by tec nine below this one a few...and shoot him an im or email. the deal is on!

tec's a good guy.

dropping in the rsa trigger group cures trigger slap..period. as dead as it can get.

Don't forget there's also the Tapco G2 trigger sets that are 1/2 the price of RSA's. They do the job if you just want a good US made trigger set w/o the adjustability.

Problem is getting anyone over here that is also a member of FALFILES to ever even look at another TAPCO catalog.  Sorry every TAPCO catalog that comes to my house is instanly thrown in the trash and never opened.  Sad too they're just 45 min from my house.

echap - I just went through the trigger slap thing with my SAR-1 recently, and while I'm certainly no expert, I might be able to add a little to this... I was able to fix mine at no cost, thanks to Campy's advice, and help from others, too... Now, I have a nice two stage trigger, with no slap, at a cost of ZERO out of pocket...You might want to take a look at this thread:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=79&t=59009

To that I'll add that after close inspection, I found a tiny chunk(machining flaw) in the channel of the trigger that the disconnector sits in - once I removed that, and radiused the corner of the disconnect, I was good to go...

One last thing - if you do decide to shorten the disconnector spring, exercise EXTREME caution - if you shorten it too much, you could experience malfunctions including doubling, or going full auto - and you DON'T want that... I cannot overstate the importance of this...

In the end, it wasn't difficult at all to do, and I got it down to where all I had to do was to drift out the trigger axis pin most of the way, while leaving the shepards hook right where it was, to work on the trigger and disconnector - then slip them back in to try them out... Let me know if I can help in any way...

I had some major slap on my sar-1 before I installed my RSA trigger.  It is really sweet.  It was the best $85 I have ever spent on a gun.

That's funny. I won't get into the problems I had with them. I got my G2 kit on a group buy so I didn't deal with them. I always thought you FAL guys loved them?

The big thing with TAPCO is the fact that gunsnet (aka ak47.nutz) went to TAPCO for a sponsorship, and (this is all second hand info) TAPCO turned around and told FALFILES that they were canceling their contract, and wanted thier money back.  This all came after the owner of FALFILES refused to sell the site to gunsnet.
