| my buddy has an sar-1 with his second rsa trigger. The first one the disconnector just sheared off. They were cool and totally replaced it quickly. However we went to the range today(indoor-no rapid fire)and shot the sar-1 with the new rsa trigger.Well it double tapped twice when my friend shot it, I thought he was just shooting too agressive. So he let me shoot it, the first mag went smooth it shot real nice.Popped in the second mag and was half way through it then braaaaaapppp! the damn thing went f/a 5 shots+ until I let go, otherwise I could of cleared the whole mag. Scared the livimg shit out of me! We took the whole fcg out, no visible damage. The staff at the range were a little razzled and demanded to see the internals and we explained what happened and they were appalled.RSA is a great company I NEVER ever heard this happen to anyone on the boards.I just wanted to give everybody heads up because that could of turned into a pretty deadly situation for newbie or someone who has little expirence with semiauto's.Just so you no Im not bashing RSA I think they make awesome products, hell not every ferrari that rolls off the line is gone to perfect, but this is an expirence that you must all be aware of. thank you |

556 ain't lying...i had the same thing happen when experimenting with trigger settings on my sar-2. it was no big deal and everyone smiled and laughed as i burst-fired my way thru a plateshoot match. 5 minutes later, i was back on the line with a properly working rifle. what i found was, IF you have the disconnector's rear set screw too light the rifle will double or triple because the disconnector is bouncing under recoil and will not re-set. the cure is simple...turn the setscrew in untill the re-set is reliable. i found the lowest reliable trigger weight to be right around 2-3/4 lbs., depending on trigger travel settings. i now set my triggers at 3lbs. and as double-stage pulls. one must remember that each countrys' receivers have the hammer/trigger pivot pin holes in slightly differing locations, and this affects the oem set screw settings/trigger pull. i have never seen an rsa group (and i've installed many of them and been around dozens more that other guys installed) that came from the factory set up incorrectly. are you certain your friend didn't diddle with the settings? |
