| Does anyone know which AK-47's have a chrome-lined barrel? Can you tell by simple visual inspection of the barrel? I don't shoot corrosive ammo, just curious. |
[PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT MODE ON!] OBVIOUSLY YOU WILL MAKE SURE THE FIREARM IS UNLOADED!!!!! not trying to be a dick, but I know at least one cop that er, um....well anyway |
WHAT?????????? MY DREAM RIFLE IS NO LONGER MY DREAM RIFLE!!!!! HOW CAN THIS BE?????? [>(] [>(] [>(] [>(] It looks like the Galil or the Sig 550 is Mao's dream AK now. Those are mostly chrome lined, right? ![]() I knew I should have stripped that guys Valmet to find out about that stuff. Campy are you sure the Valmet 76's barrel isn't chrome lined? I mean, the bolt is, so why not the darn barrel? Or is the bolt just polished steel like on Chi Com AKs? |

The chinese are chromed, valmets are not. I dont worry so much about the chrome bore, they have their positives and their negatives. But if the bore is going to be chrome, the gas block and the gas tube should be too. Corrosive ammo usually does way more damage to the tube than the barrel. The polytech's usually chrome the gas block also. |

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sigh. It looks like Mao is going to have to build is own damned rifle or live with the bulky ass Galil. I guess those newer Chinese .223 AKs aren't all that bad. I have yet to get my hands on a genuine AK-101 either. I have looked at a real H&K G36, but the damn thing lacks pig irons. Well, the lack of chrome lining explains the accuracy of Valmets and Sigs. I still think it's a dumb thing to do on a military rifle with the s#$t ball ammo they make you use. Most nations cannot afford Black Hills to train with. Perhaps it's not as big of a deal I think it is. Most rifle barrels only last 10,000-15,000 rounds anyway I guess. |
All the 7.62x39 valmets I have seen had good bores, despite the fact that when they came in the country the only non corrosive ammo available was extremely expensive, hence they where shot with corrosive stuff. |
