I've got a very nice Romanian AK47, which I purchased a few years ago from ARS in Phoenix.  I'd appreciate some suggestions from forum members about how to get a better sight system, hopefully without handing it off to a gunsmith. I would prefer not to go the "optics" route, though I've looked at UltiMAK's mount system, and that would accomplish the job. I'd prefer an iron sights system....fewer things to fail in a pinch. I want to make it my "truck" gun.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I just ordered a set of peep sights from Kurts Custom Firearms.  The AK-47 sights are metered out to 800 meters and the AK74 are metered out to 1000.

Customer service was very good on all the questions I had, and they went out of their way to tell me how to install.  They shipped the same day I ordered.

I have not installed them yet, so I can not give a review of them.
I know this is limited info, but you might take a look at their product.

Red Star Arms carries Mojo peeps. Not quickly adjustable for ranges, but most leave it at whatever works for 100 yds. Once set, use locktight before you toss it in the truck ;)

try shaving the front sight post down.

rsa sells the mojo apeture sight, brownells sell the williams and ace sells a nice ar type conversion.

any apeture will deliver better results than a notch sight.

I just went over to Kurt's Kustom Firearms site and couldn't find a pic or any info....Could you post a link if you have one or post a pic and some info on the peep sight like price, etc???

Thanks,

The reason you were not able to find it was because it was Krebs Custom Firearms!  Sorry about that.  16 hour work days this time of year really get to you.

www.krebscustom.com/CustomParts.html

Its about half way down the page.
