it is legal to modify the rifle to accept hi-cap mags as long as you add 5 usa made parts (6, if you have a muzzle brake). you will also have to add a feed ramp to the trunnion, in all likelyhood. you may also have to file down your mag locking lever a bit. the conversion is relatively easy if you have a few tools and some mechanical bent. i have known guys to sit and watch tv and open up the mag opening with a mill bastard file...not tough at all, just time consuming. the feed ramp can be welded in or riveted...hell, jb weld might even work. |
