My local dealer has a Pre-Ban Mitchell Arms underfolder in excellent condition. It is a consignment and the seller is asking $1500. What do you all think of that price? Too high?

Is this a Yugo AK? What caliber?

It's a Yugo 7.62x39. This thing looks like it's brand new. The finis is excellent, the bore is excellent.

If I wanted it I would pay that. 1200. from where I am is a better price though.

Well, I'm thinking about the cost and the AW ban. I don't want to sink a lot of money into this rifle only to have the ban go away with no replacement (highly unlikely). But, if the ban sunsets with no replacement, what are the chances of these being imported again?

I was reading some other posts and learned that the Zastava plant was destroyed. I'm guessing that these rifles will never be imported again. I'm going to pick this thing up tomorrow (if it's still there).

If the AW ban sunsets, it will not affect the importation of these rifles.  The Crime Bill of 1994 only identifies the features necessary to make a weapon an assault weapon.  The import ban of 1989 will still be in full effect.

Never seen the 762x39 version, but seen Yugo .308 and Valmet .308 AKs go for 1500-1600 in NE Ohio.

It's apparently an earlier import because the model number (RPK-47) wasn't scratched out and replaced with another model number. I looked at this thing today and it looks like it has never been fired. I took it apart and looked at the gas piston and it is absolutely spotless. With the 3 AKs I've got now there is always some carbon that I can't get off of the gas piston.
