GlobalTrades did not have anymore of the US made short pistons in stock. They do not know when/if they will get more in. How do you tell the difference between chrome pistons and SS pistons? I believe mine is SS. Do all foreign AK's have chrome pistons? What other place are the short pistons avaiable? My short piston has a small C etched in the base near the carrier. Would this be US? "GlobalTrades did not have anymore of the US made short pistons in stock. They do not know when/if they will get more in." "short"??? i'm lost. short...as in krinkov length? "How do you tell the difference between chrome pistons and SS pistons? I believe mine is SS." chromed commie pistons are only plated on the forward (piston head) end and you can see a distinct difference between the bare steel surface and the chromed portion. stainless pistons have a uniform surface color/texture from the head to the threads. "Do all foreign AK's have chrome pistons?" yes. "What other place are the short pistons avaiable?" have you tried tennessee guns? "My short piston has a small C etched in the base near the carrier. Would this be US?" yes. |

Thanks CAMPYBOB. I meant short as in for the Hungarian AK's. Like on the AMD-65. Mine is an ARM. Imported through ACC/Intrac. It was purchased as what appeared to be a "mutt" or "kit" gun. No telling what someone did with it. I know this may sound redundant, but are all steel pistons made here in the US? Remembering back to my NHM-91 it had what appeared to be a stainless piston as well. My memory could be fuzzy. Was'nt the NHM-91 all chi-com parts? What does the C denote? I thought it meant Century arms. Did Century arms make their own pistons or purchase from outside source? Not to mention that none of the Century arms AK's use the rarer short Gas tube/piston.
