1)Does anyone know where I can find a couple of these? Thiry rounders.
2)Will Valmet or Galil mags work?
Thanks,

neither the valmet or galil mags will work out of the box.

the steel chinese .223 mags can be found at gunshows for $20 or so. if you find some...jump on them.

I too have a Poly .223, a preban, and mags are indeed a problem. If you find any Polytech .223 mags at a decent price grab them. What you will find much more of is Norinco .223 mags which do not fit BUT can be fairly easily altered to fit. Some metal will need to be removed from the Norinco mag for the Polytech rifle's mag catch to be able to function.
Just place the two different makes of mags side by side and it will be obvious to you where the metal needs to come off the Norinco mag.

That's interesting; that the Polytech and Norinco .223 mags are different.
Will Norinco or other AK mags fit in the Poly AK 7.62 ????

My Polytech 7.62x39 has worked fine with every steel mag I have tried which would include Poly, Norinco, East German, Hungarian and Bulgarian. The Bulgarian steel fits even better than the Chinese mags.
It will NOT work with the Bulgarian polymer mags because the mag well is too small (on my rifle at least) for them to even be inserted into the rifle.

You may want to try using AK74 mags. These can be made to work well with the smaller .223 round buy simply building up the rear of the follower with apoxy since the 5.45x39 casing is slightly larger in diameter. You will notice the .223 rounds will slip out easily when putting them into the mag so you can see where to add the apoxy. I have seen this method work very well and very reliably. Plus AK74 bakelite mags look cool and are cheap.
