It seems that current production WASR 10s are a lot better quality than they were 5-10 years ago. I have a Romy G built buy Lancaster Consulting that I bought back in 2007 because I was told they were better quality than WASRs at the time. If I recall, a lot of the WASRs being imported were actually WASR 10/63s if that makes a difference. That being said, my G was not perfect. The wood quality was poor. The lower handgaurd retaining cap was canted and the rear sight was also canted. Additionally, I noticed the edges of the gas tube where the upper hanguard twists in were not uniform and looked slightly flared or bent in some areas compared to other gas tubes I've seen. All the parts having matching numbers so I believe they are all from the same kit. Ultimately, nothing huge but not top notch either.

Now I was able to look over a new Centry Arms WASR the other day and I was really impressed with the quality. Everything was straight. Gas tube was tight with no wiggle. All the rivets were crushed properly. Magazine wobble was marginal. I felt the quality was better than my G. Has WASR quality improved to the point where that is an accurate observation or did I just get a bad G build?

Thanks for any input!

I believe there are many more good than bad. But from my own experience and crappy luck I can tell you without doubt that the less than perfect WASRs are still being rolled out into the public domain. I will say mine was as straight as any I have ever owned and perfectly zero'd out of the box, but had a bad case of hiccups. Failure to feed just like the pictures in recent WASR threads right here in this forum. It may have been and probably was an easy fix, but it also kicked in a weird upward slapping style and just wasn't any where near as pleasant to shoot as my milled gun, even after replacing the slant brake.

Everyone knows that any rifle no matter the circumstance is junk unless it is at least $1000. Also the same gun would be better if it was $2000 or better yet $3000.
No Century gun could ever be good quality because they don't cost enough to be good quality. .

They have a better finish, prettier wood (although I prefer the old laminated AKM furniture), and canted sights dont seem to be such a big issue as with the old ones. Besides that its still the same quality as every other Romanian gun ever brought in IMO.

I looked at a few today, very decent! I would not have believed they were WASR's unless it was on them.

Thanks for the replies. They seem to have definitely stepped up their game. Does anyone know if they prices are going to continue to rise?  I've heard that due to military contracts, most manufactures in Eastern Europe are not prioritizing US exports.

I don't think anyone knows what prices are gonna do. They can speculate, but with the whole world being in a seemingly volatile condition, they could double in price overnight, Never will they drop in price that drastically. Kind like gas. It comes down a penny at a time and jumps a quarter at a time. About $600 for a new one today, and I gave $523 for one 2 months ago.
