I'm looking for and ak decided on the century RAS 47, but have seen some complain about soft metal parts.  I have seen pics of the terrible IO rifles are the new ones ok.  The ras are the bolt and carrier cast or forged.  I have read good things about the barrel I'm just worried about the parts and the sight cant if that's still a problem.  I noticed IO are stating that they line theirs up with a laser and no longer have canted sights.  Also would the milled c39v2 be more accurate than the ras47, on the internet the story goes that the ras47 has the better barrel.  Should I be looking at the DDI ak rifles since they are on used surplus parts(reported better parts)  What way to go all new parts of unknown  quality or used parts of unknown quality.

So many opinions and reviews keep putting me all over the place not to mention problems of finding items in stock.

Thanks, Snowman357

It may sound stupid but I did not look at wasr because of the non magazine dimples, plus this will be ordered can't inspect it before hand, some people say that they have lots of mag wobble.  Ok I will not  look at IO wish they would work out, more available prices are good.

If buying today my preference goes like this:

Saiga=DDI>WASR>>RAS=C39>>>>>>>>>IO

Just my opinion.

Don't overthink mag wobble. Rarely (RARELY) does it ever present a functional problem, and the absence of dimples on the receiver has nothing to do with it. They're not "mag dimples", they're receiver dimples put there to strengthen that long section of otherwise flat sheet metal. Instead of dimples, WASRs have steel plates or tabs welded to the inside of the receiver to provide strength to those areas. A WASR is your best choice in that price range, though the C39v2 appears to be an excellent choice as well.

I've been researching AKs for months and that's pretty much what I decided. Arsenal also has a place at the top. Ultimately, I skipped all of those and went with a parts kit gun because I wanted that classic, well used AKM look. My next one will be a tacticool DDI though...

I have a saiga that's been converted except for the barrel end and forend, I like it but want a 2nd ak rifle I think I will start looking at the DDI maybe the wasr.

Thanks everyone

My wasr's magwell is too tight and I will be filing it.

Arsenal then Saiga or Vepr then DDI in this market you are going to pay top price it might be worth looking at semi custom.

The only off-the-shelf, new production AKs I recommend are the Arsenal 107FR in 7.62, or 104FR in 5.45.  I think it is the least risk choice, for a rifle in the best off-the-shelf fighting configuration. The plastic folder is objectively,  a better shooting platform than the triangle . ..  but I just like the triangle better.

Finish is poor - washes off with alcohol. So rattle-can it camo.
Trigger pull generally sucks - easily adjusted.
On rare occasion, canted front sight - warranty works if you deal with it promptly.

Buy once, cry once.

Add a longer 2 point sling, and a micro red dot (I prefer the ultimak rail, but side mount is fine too).  Trigger job.  A QD light mount if desired.  That's it.  Keep it simple.

I own several of the 104s. I used to own several of the 107s too, but decided to pick just one caliber.

Depends on what you want to spend.  Wasr is an amazing value, ddi most bang for the buck IMHO Arsenal if you want some collector value and want to spend the money.  The thing with the arsenal, hell with any ak mke sure you can inspect it first or buy from someone like prepare or atlantic.  Prepper has a really good deal on a slr107-34 that I am thinking about jumping on.
