I'm looking to getting some work done to my SGL21. I want to cut the barrel down to 14.5, crown and thread the barrel then perm attach a muzzle device to it. My original plan was to run an AAC Brakeout 2.0 to run an 7.62 SDN-6 but I was told that the barrel is too thin to thread it in 5/8x24 and that I might run into a concentricity issues.

Whats the best way to go about completing these mods?

find one threaded 14x1LH? If you want to make sure it's concentric, you're going to have to take it to asmith that can pull the barrel and run it on a lathe. It's the only way to be 100% sure.

+1 your barrel can be dialed in, re-profiled for the desired length of the threads, and have a 5/8-24 interference fit sleeve pressed on it.
Or.... thread for 1/2-28 and have a 1/2-28 Brakeout bored.

A much less expensive option will be to use a CNC Warrior 24x1.5 to 5/8-24 adapter. This may not yield a concentric result.
