I was one of the lucky ones who volunteered and selected by Mike @ CSSPECS to do a review of his new VEPR 12 steel 8-round magazine. I received the magazine nicely packed with some instructions. Magazine itself was plastic sealed with anti-corrosion paper wrap around it.







Not a blemish that I could find. Very clean weld spots. The feel of the magazine is very solid. The CSSPEC magazine tips the scales at about 1 lb. 2 oz. In comparison, the factory Molot 8 rounder is right around 12 oz.






















Had some time after work today so I took my VEPR 12 and Tavor to the range and went to work. I brought 75 rounds of #8 birdshots, the CSSPEC mag and the factory Molot mag. I fired all 75 rounds through using the CSSPEC mag. Not once did I encounter any issue, rounds fed flawlessly, bolt hold worked all the time (can't say the same with the SGM mags).

Loading the magazine did feel a little different compared to my Molots. I find that I really had to seat the shell to the rear before I could load the next round. The side walls on top of the magazine had some pointy spots (see pictures above) and sharp edges. Not that it's an issue but you'll feel it when you're pushing the shells in.

In conclusion, I am VERY impressed with the quality and performance of this magazine. Unbelievable value and arguably on par or better than the factory Molots. This is definitely NOT your typical Tapco quality US made accessory for the AK. This is primo stuff and something I'd be proud displaying with my gun. This is so good, Kalashikov himself would be proud.

I appreciated the rapid fire. IMO, that is how this type of thing should be tested. I'm not a fan of weight, but I'm even less of a fan of how the SGM mags bind on the way in because of the difference in width compared to a factory mag. I think CSSpecs knocked this one out of the park and look forward to trying some.

Hope to get me some this weekend! Made it a point to list some odds in the EE just to free up some funds. Hope csspec can mod these to work in my tac47 well on my s12. Mike said he would look into it after he got this launch done.

Csspecs has stated on another forum that the changes to the second batch will be minimal to nonexistent, but I'm going to wait anyway.

If everyone waits for the next coming, there might not be one if this batch does not sell out. I'm buying a few because the quality is excellent and the price is right. I'm also supporting the effort so he can build bigger and more awesome products.

Just got 2. Wanted more but you know how it is. I need to save some to give Evlblk to get my s12 running right. Hopefully they will have some instock from the second run when Csspec has some other mags I'm waiting on from them to develop in the coming weeks.
