| Why are the SGL guns so hard to find right now? Both 21 and 31 seem to be out of stock everywhere. |
|
Russian rifles come into the US in batches. I'm sure the current political tension doesn't help any.
SGL31 in stock at atlantic: http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/ak74-sgl-31-68-5-45x39mm-semi-auto-rifle-detail.html?Itemid=0 SGL31 in stock at k-var: http://www.k-var.com/shop/SGL31-Series-5.45x39-Caliber-Russian-Stamped-Receiver-AK-74-Variant-Rifles/ I don't think the SGL21's have been in stock for a while. |

Very nice sir. My local dealer has SGL-26's, not to crazy about the bolt hold open feature, but it's a great price. Should I pick one up or wait for a 21? Its the same gun lol. If you don't need the BHO just remove it Yep. Buy it, great rifles, real Russian not Bulgarian. |

It's almost the same gun,but there's a cut out in the receiver for the bolt hold open lever., I don't think the sgl-21's have that slot in the receiver. (My 10.5"and 16" AR's are the same gun too...somewhat). I know I can remove it, but will the stock trigger still work in the gun? Quoted:

If you don't need the BHO just remove it If you remove the bolt hold open from an SGL26 you'll need a new hammer. They shortened the BHO side of the hammer to fit the BHO otherwise it wouldn't fit inside the receiver. I know because I removed mine. |

That was KVar and they are not. That is over. RWC is now the exclusive importer and I am not aware of them doing any conversions at this time either. Quoted:

I'd buy a SGL-26 right now. So FIME is still bringing in SGL's? That was KVar and they are not. That is over. RWC is now the exclusive importer and I am not aware of them doing any conversions at this time either. And I don't see how someone else is going to pick up the contract to make licensed accurate AK-103 and 74M conversions. At least not at the increased unit cost Arsenal/Kvar decided to turn down. Between tooling, trying to consistently import authentic Russian parts and the increased cost, it's a losing battle. All of which make the current 21s pretty valuable. I think the longer the impasse, the more valuable the 31s will become too. |
