Ok if I remember right you can't get a real Dragunov anymore.
Is the Romanian PSL rifles any good?  Is their any others one should look at?
One of these would be cool to have.  Do you think prices will come down or stay about the same?

You can only get the dragunov from the private market.
As for the psl I couldn't tell u anything

Something else to look at: VEPR 54r

I know they don't look as cool as a Dragunov or PSL, but functionality just as good if not better.

Prices will stay the same, or go up.  The PSL apparently isn't in production anymore.

As far as how good they are.. they seem to be all over the place.  I had one that was "AK accurate".. 3moa or so with wolf ammo.  Other guys had some that were horribly inaccurate.

If I was back in the market for something like that, I would probably get a VEPR instead.. either in .308 or 7.62x54r

For the prices the PSL and Vepr and Zastava offerings are fetching, I'd buy an SVT40.

The SVD and SVT40 are the only x54r semiautos that interest me... and damn they interest me a lot.

Other than personal preference, why an SVT40? Mags are almost impossible to find, and their age usually means less than ideal conditions. I think they are way overpriced when compared to newer offerings like the VEPR in 54R.

Saw a genuine Russian SVD at the gun show today.  Also saw a nice SVT40.

Im holding off on an M77 till this comes out. Also there's a thread over at the Akfiles about these too.

Interesting, hope this all comes true.  And I hope they bring in the wood stock version... but I'll be thrilled with either one.

Yes, I've been holding out for a quality factory-built 7.62x54R
Since the SVD/Tiger is way expensive and hard to find, I've been considering a Vepr 23" model.
But if this Zastava M91 becomes available, I will definitely pull the trigger on that. It looks Hot.

Fact: I will fall all over myself getting to my wallet as soon as the M91 is available!  I won't be able to enter the CC # fast enough....that thing is beautiful.

With that stock I really don't know for sure whether they have slant or square receivers.  Hopefully, they are square but probably not considering the .308 version is not.

Curious as to condition and price of SVD?

According to the owner - It was a "bring back" (not sure from where).  The receiver was cut and was welded back together.  He said the ATF had seized it and determined it was legal and returned it to him.  Asking price was $12,000.  It was easy to see where the weld had been done.  Don't know who did the welding.  Again this was all from the owner.

I ran into that same guy back in October-ish at the gunshow up in Sandy. I thought the receiver looked like a re-weld, which I thought was weird. Mystery solved.

Why the **** don't they make stuff with some sort of chrome lining or melonite/nitride finish on the barrels?  I would buy the heck out of their AK's if they did that; but as-is I'm not about to buy a "normal" barrel on an AK unless it's dirt cheap.

Yeah, because otherwise they just won't hold up to abuse.

How about a custom sniper that breaks down?
Here is what I'm kicking around.
Start with a AWO Galil large thread milled receiver and put a 20" 338 Federal bull barrel.
Build a custom gas block system that's held on by a muzzle brake.
Thoughts?
