I was finally able to take out my SLR-107F for the first time today. I used a mixture of Golden Tiger and Red Army Standard (I think that's what it's called) ammunition. Long story short the Golden Tiger was greatly more consistent than the Red Army ammo. So, that is what I perfected my zero with. From the factory the rifle shot about 2 inches low and slightly left using the standard AK sight-in target.

While sighting in with Golden Tiger I kept the rear sight-leaf on 100M with POI about 1/2" under POA at 25 YDs. This was done, because I read this would be about the correct zero for the 25/200 YD zero.

I hope that made sense. I just want to make sure I am doing this right.

Thanks everyone and seasons greetings to all!

With the leaf set to setting "1", I always zero at 25m with the POI being about 2" below the POA... i then move out to 100m and fine tune (POA and POI are pretty close at 100m using the 2" under at 25m).  Then you have the correct zero for your respective leaf sight settings.  I don't know why you would be worried about a 25/200 when the distances are already marked on the elevation adjustment.  Maybe i didn't follow your post correctly.

Playing around with a ballistics calculator, while not real world.. gave me this idea. What if I move the rear leaf to 200M mark (even though I'm in yards, it should be close enough), and zero at 25 yards with the leaf at 200M.

According to the Hornady calculator it should be near zero again at 200 YDs with a 25 YD zero with the information and today's conditions I entered. As I said, not real world, but close enough?

Second, how would this affect yards though? Kind of goes with my belated thought.

To clarify the 25/200 is just something I read that gives an effective zero I like.

Golden Tiger is pretty much the 'go-to' for accuracy in the inexpensive ammo. I think you're fine with the rear sight on '1' and 1" low at 25, although you'll need to shoot to zero at 50 with it. This gives you a 100 yd zero which you should confirm, making fine adjustments with the front sight. For 200, just set the rear sight on '2', and so forth for all the distances. '3' is the same as the 'battlesight zero', the letter at the rear of the leaf. Obviously you'll be quite high at 100 with this setting, which is why most shooters don't use it for target shooting or plinking. The 100 yd trajectory I think is the most useful because its quite flat out to 100, rising only about an inch at 75. You'll get a good hit from the muzzle to about 125 with it, which generally takes care of most defensive/hunting/plinking needs. The platform and ammo is not known for great accuracy in the longer ranges although some have accomplished it. If you can shoot into 3" at 100 (quite a feat), that's 6" at 200 and 9" at 300, which is plenty good for torso-sized targets.

This is right. Put sight at 200 for x39 and zero at 25-27 yards.
