Yes, because it mounts like any normal handguard, and no, it shouldn't melt because the parts of it that go into the handguard retainer are metal, not to mention it has metal heat shielding in it.
It won't melt under sustained fire; I fired 100 rds stopping only to change mags and you can't feel the heat through the handguard. The front trunnion area was pretty hot, and I know wooden handguards would've been hot and smoking at that point. If you're really worried about melting it, there are actually extra vent slots you can pop open to aid in cooling it/venting some heat. |
