So I've been trying to figure out the best way to mount a flashlight to an AKM type rifle, and one of the solutions that seems to work the best is putting one on an UltiMak gas tube.  I'm not really a big fan of not having an upper handguard though, so does there exist a gas tube like an UltiMak that allows you to still keep your upper handguard?

There is two noteworthy ones, dbmg tri rail, and rs products bm-1. The tri rail weighs more but wont effect accuracy and the rs barely affects accuracy if at all and is extremely light. Thats a basic overview.. Do you want three rails or one on the side? Neither weigh very much really and are both extremely nice.

Thanks for the info!  I was previously unaware of the  dbmg tri rail, looks interesting, but not really what I'm looking for.  The rs products looks like what I need.

Thanks for obliging a noob.

Glad to help! You will be very happy with either one, both quality made by great folks! The rs products is awesome! You can also combine it with a thorntail mount and it will put it over the front site so you wont get and backflash on the fsp. The scout one is probably the best light setup available! Just be sure to rezero after the mount is installed incase the zero moves. Good choice!

Brownells has them too or other places.
