I cannot get the upper handguard of my WASR 1063 to seat all the way down to close the lever. Suggestions?

Can you post a pic so we can see is the wood of the gas tube touching your lower handgaurd wood? or is it the gas tube lockdown lever.

I can't post pics. I did just put this wood on the gas tube, though

The upper wood is about 3/8 " from the lower wood and the lockdown lever will not budge.
Even with force

Are you certain that you have the take- down lever in the correct position? Is the "flat" side of the half-cylinder pin positioned to allow the gas tube to drop down past it?

The lever can take quite a bit of carefully applied force to move. Try using a vice-grip on the tab to give you more leverage but don't break it.
You really need to post picks so we can see EXACTLY what is going on.
