My web searching has not helped much, does anyone know where I can find out more about the field equipment carried and used by Soviet and later Russian infantry soldiers ? TIA.

Depends a lot on the era. Are we talking about the Russian-Afghan War, later, earlier?

Current "modern" infantry loadout:

Rifle: AK-74M

Uniform: Digital Flora

Helmet: 6B27

Plate carrier: 6B43

Chest rig: 6sh112

Goggles: 6B43

They are also currently doing testing on a new camo pattern called "Ratnik":

This is top of the line stuff for infantry. Widespread adoption is subject to budgets for crucial units. Lot's of older equipment still being issued to their soldiers.

We haven't even scratched the surface of Soviet equipment, and special units!

It's almost impossible to keep track of the different chest rigs, helmets, and uniforms of the Russian Federation. Dog and pony shows aside, take a look at the Chechen conflict, Georgian conflict, and operations in Degastan and you will see a plethera of uniforms and equipment.

The only time I have seen the Russian Army uniform is during the May 1st parade. That doesn't mean they are not striving to standardize uniforms and equipment. With Russians being Russians, they never throw anything away.

That is too bad.  Foot Wraps really are an "olde" idea that works surprisingly well.

Very Low Tech, but effective.

I had to google "foot wraps" to find out what the hell you were talking about

As far as Russian gear, anyone got a site recommendation for shopping.
