I am an AK newby looking for some info.  I have an opportunity to get a Yugo M70 underfolder (century arms) cheap.  Are these guns decent quality?  Also, how difficult it it to change the plastic  furniture (hand guard) to wood?  The owner dont know much about AK's he just knows he dont like it, just trying to get some info before I buy.  thanks

Grab it if it is cheap and functions.  They are listing at $1200 on Gunbroker right now... An underfolder is the one thing missing from my collection that I really wanted and I'm KICKING myself for not grabbing one before this madness.  I may end up just taking a hit and grabbing one before it gets any crazier.

I own one and it is a very nice build. IIRC, mine was built on a DCI receiver. Mine performs flawlessly. Yugo furniture is unique, so you will have to locate Yugo wood for replacement. Try RTG gunparts  or APEX (site sponsor) for Yugo furniture.

They are good guns, I have a Yugo and it runs great. I did refinish using Norells semi-gloss black and then bought wood stocks from Iron Wood Designs and used sandpaper and tung oil to finish the wood. Looks so much better now.

I used to own a couple, they were my first AK's. Loved 'em. They were the most accurate AK47's I've owned. Also the heaviest though, and the barrels weren't chromed.

Furniture is easy to change, and makes a big difference. The plastic I've seen on Yugo's looked like shit. Non heat shielded too.

Same here...great rifles that are built to last with a thicker receiver and a heavier barrel than other AKM's.

But generally speaking no chrome lining, so be sure to take care with corrosive ammo.
