I have a few 5.45 and 7.62 kits from way back when they were plentiful and I think it's time to get them built...but I know next to nothing about AK builders.  Can anyone recommend a good smith o do the builds?

Do you have receivers for them?  If not, I would get those first--if you can.  Nodak Spud appears out of stock on almost everything until at least next month.  Some items state the next batch won't be made until February.

If you have kits, receivers and compliance parts, then start contacting builders to get a slot.  The premium guys with well-deserved reputations include Chris Butler at AK-USA, Mario at Piece of History Firearms, the Gunplumer at Arizona Response Systems, Troy at In-Range and I'm sure there's a few others I can't think of right now.

In Range, Piece of History firearms, my guns northwest and Iron Curtain creations, are a couple i can think of right now. Expect to spend $350 plus cost of compliance parts to have them built. Do you have receivers?

I have two 74 Bulgarian kits from Ohio Rapid Fire that are NIB and a Hungarian under folder kit also NIB.  I have the 74 receivers but I need to figure out the Hungarian kit as I want to do a Khyber pass build and I understand some of the trunion holes don't line up.

Thanks for the info!

Sounds like you're covered on the -74s.  For the Hungarian, you will need the triangle side-folder assembly and either the NDS-1-KP receiver or a regular fixed-stock receiver that any of those builders can modify.  I think there are a few -47 pattern receivers on gunbroker for prices that are not (yet) insane.  Good luck!

Matt at My Guns Northwest not only does awesome builds, but offers great customer service & prices. I have been emailing him and will be sending him my kit/receiver as soon as the trunnion gets here.
