Hey guys, my friend has a WASR-10 that will feed rounds fine and if you pull back slowly on the charging handle it will eject them, but if you pull back fast or shoot the rifle it ejects the round up into the dust cover and it stays in the reciever. I took the gun apart and everything seems to be in order. I compared it to my WASR-10 and everything is identical. What could be causing this?

Post a pic of the ejector part of the rail. I suspect something in that area.

Probably an out of spec ejector or a weak extractor spring would be my guess. Does the extractor on the problem rifle feel as stiff as your WASR?

I was thinking it was the extractor spring. It feels a bit looser on his rifle than mine. I'll swap springs and see if it cures the problem. He had some "gunsmith" look at it and he ground away some of the ejector saying there was a "burr" on it but that "burr" was just the sharp part of the extractor that needs to be there. Some "gunsmith".... Anyways, I'll swap springs and see if that works. I also noticed that he had never cleaned the damn thing and it didnt have any lube on it. He's a security contractor for a well known company in Iraq and used to be in my platoon in the Army. You'd think he would know better, but hes probably just used to seeing them in trash cans hahahah

It is a very typical malfunction from an ejector that is too short.

I'd have your gunsmith replace the gun he ruined.

It can be weld-repaired, but he didn't contract to have his gun ruined and then weld-repaired.

Post this douchebag's name!

The AK ejector should be as close to the bolt centerline as possible without touching.  There are other defects that can cause a correct ejector to act like an incorrect one, such as a center support sleeve oversize, which pulls the ejector away from centerline.

But I have considerable experience in manufacturing and troubleshooting AKs and I have never found a gun that tossed the empties back inside that was NOT caused by ejector too short, or leading edge outboard of trailing edge.
