| I've got a Bulgarian AKS-74 and an AKS-74U kit from years ago that are in new/unissued condition. I've got a bunch of mags that I think the most I paid for one was $15 for an OD green ((10)). I've got all the American parts and a few tins of 7N6. Should I order up the receivers from 74U, LLC and build them? Or with the prices those kits are going for these days should I sell all my 5.45 stuff and buy a SCAR or Knight's? |

Thats a hard call... I have two aks's and I have thought of selling them for a scar or aug all the time. The scar and sr are fine rifles and a aks is too.. The way I see it is yoy can get a scar anytime but your bulgarian rifles will probably never be imported again and will only get rarer. Also, while a good aks can be scary accurate and a scar or sr15 are extremely reliable there is no question the aks will be the benchmark of reliability and scars are moa rifles.. So do you want accuracy or reliability? Also a scar is amidestrious but is rediculously tall and with the stock folded fat as a pig.. The aks will be harder to mount stuff on it and is not amidextrios unless you buy some aftermarket gizmo..
I feel the aksu is more gimmicky but looks.like alot of fun.. But if its an original barrel one then its worth alot.. You might beable to sell it and some mags and get like a daniel defense v5 and build the aks and have the best of both worlds. I wouldn't sell the aks kit though, you will probably regret it, its a really nice and usefull rifle. |
