| Looking to pick up an PK-AS. Got to use one on my buddy's AK. The best part was the black dot when turned off. Although, I did not like how the optic was offset to the left. Are there any alternative mounts for this optic to mount above the gun? Thanks. |
| There is a version that sits over the bore. Give this place a call and see if he has any instock. The pkas that sits over the bore looks just like the one in the pict on his site. Scroll down the the bottom of that link to see the pict. |

You could also try Rakurs A1 or Rakurs-PM
http://russianoptics.net/Rakurs.html Though I used the PK-AS for many years and considered it the best of the combloc optics, IMO Rakurs is superior to PK-AS. Easier to zero, very similar optical quality, always on german post with tritium illumination and it's also built like a tank. Rakurs looks heavier but weight is actually nearly the same, PK-AS at 15.8oz and Rakurs at 17.7oz. I'm of the opinion that the NPZ clamp is the best design for a side rail optic and while there's nothing wrong with the SVD style mounting system the NPZ has a greater tolerance for differences in rail design or manufacture. It's also easier to get the tension dialed in. 1P76 on bottom, Rakurs-PM on top
If you want to get really space age check out Obzor. After months of regular use it's now become my favorite red dot / collimator. Several members like LiquidMetal have been using Obzor for a long time and have great things to say about it as well. http://russianoptics.net/Obzor.html Z |

It's a quality optic that is relatively lightweight and compact, built Tonka-tuff, has a great reticle, and will never need batteries. The Obzor certainly has a lot to offer, too bad people seem to dismiss it without giving it a chance. |
