Picked mine up last Monday. I'm very happy with it.
Although these bust the $1,000 mark, it's still a decent deal for a factory-built, milled rifle. Build quality is high, and the finish on this 101 is a little better than the finish on a few of my other Arsenals. Its smoother and more evenly applied. A few pics below. Pay close attention to the last picture (it's from the owner's manual that came with this rifle) and tell me if you see anything wrong.

The trigger is a little gritty right before it breaks, although in my experience that's normal for Arsenal triggers. They tend to smooth out a bit over time. The barrel and sights are straight. No issues there. I'm going to take it out shooting in early September. I miss the days when I didn't have to plan a month in advance to go shooting.

These are the newer, lighter AKM profile- that is current issue to the Bulgarian troops and exported to militaries around the world. You really can't go wrong with this set up. It's basically an unbanned SLR95. FYI, the older 47 pattern guns are nice but very front heavy to keep on target offhand. These tend to balance a little better, even more so than a standard AKM because the receiver keeps the weight more toward the back. I had two unbanned SLR 95's and like an idiot I sold them- they were fast to put back on target and could easily double tap on 10" steel plates at 100 meters. Plus they are accurate. |

Mine gets here on Tuesday (according to the fedex tracking info). Can't wait to get my hands on it.
Curious about one thing though from the pics others have posted on this thread. Why do they have Arsenal of Las Vegas on the left side of the receiver, not Bulgarian Arsenal? I thought they'd say Bulgarian Arsenal on the receiver side, and then probably Arsenal USA (vegas) on the bottom in front of the mag-well? |
