| Anyone tried one out? Just wondering since I have heard good things about the AR versions. |

Here's a good comparison video that includes the Battlecomp:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUbxO3jkJxc I chose to go with the PWS FSC47 rather than the Battlecomp. The performance is comparable, it kills flash as well, it's ~half the price, and it just happens to look cooler. ymmv. |

I have no experience w/ the BC on an AK but run a BC and PWS on ARs. The blast from the PWS is considerably more. It also likes to throw gasses back at me. |

My Primary Weapons PRC brake doesn't direct much blast back at me (that I notice anyway), but it does direct gas rearward. The first 5 or 6 inches of the barrel and the FSB really get sooted from the gasses coming back. Not a big deal to me, but noticeable nonetheless. The blast coming back at me from my latest brake by WCI on my 6.5 Grendel is considerable. Surprised the hell out of me the first time I pulled the trigger after installing it. Still like it though. |

We put one on a personal gun as a demo so we can let customers shoot it. They can be had for less than retail if you look around. The gun is in full recoil here in the middle of a rapid fire mag dump (the joy of shooting company ammo Isn't rifle dynamics the only retailer? |

Call me crazy, but I actually like the AK74 style brake a lot. I tend to replace things that need to be replaced not just for looks and IMO these battlecomps don't add enough "Performance" over a stock AK74 brake to warrant the $150 price tag. I can buy a lot of ammo with $150

For two hundred bucks I can pretty much build a mutt AK. Id love to have a BattleComp, but they are just two darn expensive. I'm not saying the battlecomp isn't worth the money maybe it is, but it's only worth it if the barrel device I have is causing my rifle to f**k up. I think a lot of people on forums have more money than they do sense and they put more stock into how tacticool their guns look staged in photos on a forum than how they perform in a real training environment or in combat. I had an instructor tell us once that you shouldn't f**k with a gun until you have well over 500 rounds through it. That went for pistols, rifles, shotguns, etc. because just because you see some cool part on the web doesn't mean you "Need" it. Spend money on ammo before swapping out a bunch of parts you may not need. I guess I don't get the battlecomp saleman award this year. lol |
I started the thread to ask for real world experience on a product and comparison to other similar products. It seems the biggest complaint is the cost even from those who have never tried it. The same could be said for any weapon accessory. For example the Aimpoint T1 I just bought for my SAM7 was more than what I paid for the rifle itself. I'm sure I could have bought a much cheaper red dot or no optic at all. I'm not one to load my weapons with all the cool pricey new things I can hang off it. This rifle will be equipped much like my other rifles. Sling, optic and possibly a light down the road. It seems that some in the AK forum frown on anything other than a plain unmodified AK. I realize that I have many choices in a muzzle device from a slant brake, A2 style flash hider, 74 style brake to the PWS, Spikes and Battlecomp. I'm trying to make an informed decision before I buy anything. Thanks to all who provided feed back on the Battlecomp and similar devices.

I'd rather have a couple Performers than a safe full of mediocrity. The BC does its job well. The PWS J-Tac, FSC47, and FSC30 work well also. They are all improvements over the slant brakes and so on. What separates the BC from the PWS is comfort. The BC is much nicer to shoot. It becomes painfully obvious when the safety glasses come off. The one and only time I tried shooting a PWS FSC w/o eye pro my right eye received a dose of hot gas.
OP, I hope this was more of what you were looking for. |

Yes this is exactly the type of feedback I was seeking. Thanks for your input. |
