i bought this gun a few years ago...

i have learned an AR is an AR and an AK should be an AK!

where do i start?

i would like to get it bak to a wood stock if possible and standard irons... i know the rail should just come off, but i dont know that the butt stock is standard or not.

holy shit, how have you let that go on for so long like that

that stock would look just as ugly on any AR, what is that thing

Its ok. You've taken the first step. There is help.

I can't tell if the tang has been removed for the stock. Is there a piece which comes off the rifle and attaches on the stock with a screw in it?

I'm all for enhancing a Kalash for modern gunfighting, but that is just cheap tacticool crap. I would leave the rail and stubby grip, and remove everything else. Maybe replace the stock with an Arsenal polymer stock?

Sorry. First double tap.
That was weird.

sorry. thought it was GD.

That looks like a standard but stock.

Just get a stock for a European AKM, that will fit.

The EE has some Romy stocks ussually.

Okay, so get an Allen wrench and take out those two screws in the pic. The stock should then come straight off the back of the rifle. It might be snug in the receiver, and may require some wiggling or prying to get it to move.

Yep. Pretty standard affair. Get an akm set, remove existing, replace with new (some fitting is almost guaranteed to be required) and screw in. you'll need wood screws. Also, the gas tube handguard can be a pain. Sandpaper is your friend.

Or you could go traditional poly. Whatever you want there.

If you want to sell any of the takeoff parts shoot me a PM or email I have been wanting to bubba a Ak for a while now and these parts all together would be a perfect package for my tactical Ak experiment

AKM in short means it's a stamped sheet metal receiver so you will need a stock set for a stamped rifle

id be willing to get rid of the hand guard and NC star scope.

as far as the butt stock and tube, the stock itself is incomplete. the cheek rest is missing some screws and a compartment cover.

the stubby is not for sale.

let me know what you want and how much your willing to pay shipped.

No, don't even go there. Take those rails off!!!

My definition of an AR wanna-be:
- M4 collapsible stock
- QUAD RAILS
- Forward grip (unless it's an AMD-65)

Other ones are debateable.

New?

Nothing on an AK is ever NEW.

I don't know. I mostly buy used stuff.

I think it was designed with the new stuff mind, rather than being an attempt to make new stuff work on an old design.  There are more improvements to the AK12 than just slapping some rails on it.

What country is your rifle's parts from?  Definitely get a nice Ironwood Designs AKM laminate set.  That would look great on your rifle.

there's nothing wrong with modernizing an AK,i like classic and modern AKs equally. just depends on how comfortable either one is for you personally
