Hello Everyone,
I need some help rounding out my AK collection. Currently, I have 2 fixed stock stamped receiver rifles,1 fixed stock milled receiver rifle, and 2 RPK's. What variants am I missing?

An under-folder / side-folder would be the obvious choice; but which model is the best? Any other variants I am forgetting?

Thanks,
Accountant

Do they take standard 7.62 AK mags? I don't want additional calibers or mags.

Also, are they built from kits? I don't have time to deal with problem children. Quality factory rifles only, please.

Thanks,

Yes they do take standard 7.62 mags. They are also built straight out of Hungary in the FEG factory. Imported by TGI. Look them up and decide for yourself. I only suggest it because its "different". My other suggestion would be a 7.62 Krink, Arsenal SLR107UR to be specific since you dont like kit builts, which cancels out the Yugo Krink.

I think it would be important to know how you're collecting in order to help with any advice.  Are you trying to go by country variants or one of each different model of the rifle?

Depending on how you're collecting, perhaps some/all of these for example:

*  milled receiver underfolder
*  stamped receiver side-folder (Romanian/East German)
*  stamped receiver side-folder (Hungarian)
*  RPK-74
*

It's more of a one of each model collection vs a country collection. Even though I do own Russian, Bulgarian, Chinese, and Romanian rifles.

If I stayed true to "one of each model" collecting, what would I need for a well rounded collection?

Yugo M92 would fill the underfolder and krink factor.  Takes standard mags.  Atlantic sells them for about $1400, or you can have one built from a parts kit.

The FEG factory quit making AK's years ago. They now make home appliances. The receivers are left overs from the SA2000 days & stamped FEG from years ago. So who really makes these guns in Hungary. Similar to the SSR85C2's built in Bulgaria by ISD, not Arsenal of Bulgaria. But the Hungarian guns seem to be quite nice.  GARY  N4KVE

It seems you are missing  the stamped underfolder (Norinco 56S, WASR 10/63, M70AB2, etc.), milled underfolder (SASM7, PolyTech Legend) and stamped side-folder (SGL21-84, SGL21-94, SLR107-64, etc.) for sure. The AMD platform (fixed 63 and folding 65) could be considered a separate variant as well. There may be others. There are also milled RPKs (SARPK-7). There are other rifles (Galil, VEPR, Saiga) and sniper platforms based on the AK (PSL, M76) if you want to get technical. There are also many calibers available in the AK platform, including 5.45X39, 7.62X39, .308, .223, 12 gauge, 20 gauge, .410, 8mm Mauser, 7.62X54R. Valmet even made them in .222 for countries that do not allow civilian owner ship of firearms in military calibers. I have seen a couple pop up on Gunbroker. They also sold their hunter model in .223, .243, .308 and .30-06.
