I've had this for years and finally had the itch to play with it.
My question is will the bulgy front sight with the threads on it fit a sar1. Or should I just get the barrel threaded? I want a 74 brake on it, looks like it makes a big difference. |

The Romanian barrel has a smaller diameter than the Bulgarian so it would need to be shimmed.
I sent my SAR-2 here to have a 22mm threaded adapter installed. The guy (Chris Butler) did a great job at a reasonable cost. |
| If your going to do it right, make it a traditional AKM. However if you truly want that 74 look, at least go with a Romanian 22mm front sight block and as mentioned above, a Chris Butler AK USA 22mm comp. There are cheaper comps out there but they aren't long enough, the one Chris makes is an exact clone and he can do the work also. Last I saw, DSArms has the 22mm front sight blocks. |

You can thread the barrel yourself, but you will also need to install the front pin/spring plunger set to hold the comp on.CNCWarrior has everything you need,or put a WTR ad in the EE here for the tools only.Since you'll only use them once.
You have a SAR1, not a SAR2 so you do not need to change over to a 22mm FSB. |
